✨’Bold in Gold’ Barbie✨, a one-of-a-kind doll handmade for the OOAK Doll Festival. All gold everything baby; a draped chain mail gown with soft pleats at the hips, a bubble collar & bubble hem coat out of gold micro sequins overlaid with metallic mesh, and multi-chain earrings drippppppping down. I had this flat piece of golden chain mail that I found while cleaning out my office and i felt like I should use it, so I played around with draping & pinning it on a doll body form. I wanted to treat this hard material like soft organza, swipe to see pics of my drapes. Then the incredibly talented Mattel atelier of patternmakers and sewers, went to work figuring how to construct the chain mail into a gown. And how to push the proportions of the coat to make a statement 🙌🏽 She’s got the Lea/Kayla face sculpt, with a nude mauvey lip and graphic blue undereyeliner, painted by the one & only Minhtam.
